Information Registration
I have changed the registration activation from E-MAIL Activation to ADMINISTRATOR APPROVAL setting.

Anyone can register to join,I simply want to make sure none are spammers.

Cool

It is our attitude toward free thought and free expression that will determine our fate. There must be no limit on the range of temperate discussion, no limits on thought. No subject must be taboo. No censor must preside at our assemblies.

I know you think you understand what you thought I said,
but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant!

I fry it first to protect myself from spamming.

RE: Registration
Hello readers,

In recent days I have been getting a few requests to join the forum.People who sign up and then wait for me to activate the account.

However I have been deleting almost all of them in the same recent days prospective members who are proven risk for spam trouble. That is because I am not interested in people wanting to join only to pollute my forum with your spam garbage.

That is why I use the Admin approval method to first check the registration before allowing anyone to have their membership account activated.I have the tools to check anyone out before deciding, therefore why bother trying to join for the purpose of spamming?

Just the last week I received THREE different requests to join by the same moron using THREE different names, but all use the same exact IP address!

I have BANNED that IP address.

Pathetic!

Only Derek and Sunsettommy can activate pending membership accounts.

RE: Registration
WTG SST.

BTW - Can I invite Tom Fuller here for discussion..
Please see my post 138 (in response to his post 86) on this thread at the Air Vent blog.
http://noconsensus.wordpress.com/2010/05...-question/

He has been ignoring my posts to him at his Environment examiner blog for a long time now,
so I have decided to try to get him to engage with me at the Air Vent.
It would be nice to invite him here,
were I can use far better the forum software to make my points to him.

I doubt he will take me up on my offer to discuss here, but it's worth a try.
Given it could be a bit contraversial, and err, maybe even heated,
I thought I'd better ask your opinion / permision first.

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed
(and hence clamorous to be led to safety)
by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

H. L. Mencken.

The hobgoblins have to be imaginary so that
"they" can offer their solutions, not THE solutions.

Go ahead.

I have noticed that he posted on may 22 and your post which is still the last one on the list is 6 days later.Mr. Fuller has not replied to several comments since he posted.

I doubt he is into actual discussion with people, just post and run seems to be his method.

RE: Registration
Hello visitors,

Since I am for the most part getting absurd registration requests.I have asked the Moderators to start ignoring them.

This means that it will be difficult for anyone to join unless we know who you really are BEFORE you are approved. That means you will now have to convince either Derek or JohnWho that you are worth joining here.

I will also institute a new rule concerning the use of the Signature box for promoting products and other unwanted promotions. The Mods will DELETE them as soon as they can.

New registrants who have failed to get activated, have been loading up the signature box with multiple links to marketing and related unwanted places.I hate that.Moderators will delete or ban anyone who does it!

The only valid uses of the signature box is for quotes, links to either their Blog or working forum that is free of marketing and pornography.A personal statement about the the topic theme of MY forum.

If you are not sure just ask the Moderators about it FIRST.

This forum welcomes people who are interested in the forum's subject matter, and encourage people to join for the purpose of enabling discussions.

It is our attitude toward free thought and free expression that will determine our fate. There must be no limit on the range of temperate discussion, no limits on thought. No subject must be taboo. No censor must preside at our assemblies.

RE: Registration
In the last 2 days I have deleted about 25 membership registration requests to join.

The problem is that ALL 25 are proven registration spammers.I can look you people up and find out easily what you are. Many are from the usual spammer sources and thus easily spotted.

Some certail detail about many of you make it easy enough, that I do not even have to bother checking you out.I just delete them.

This forum is for people who are interested in discussing the topics. Not a place where spammers want to tell us what to buy and whatever.

Give it up losers and take your crap elsewhere.

RE: Registration
Hello visitors,

I have learned that ReCaptcha verification is not working properly.I changed the registration settings back to Admin Approval and shut off ReCaptcha for now.

If anyone has tried to register and could not make it work, please try again. It should work now since it is back to basic registration setting.Admin Approval will be required to prevent bots and spammers from joining. The purpose of ReCaptcha in the first place.

I am sorry for anyone being frustrated by the faulty settings.
