Lurkers too shy to post here?
I gave guests an opportunity to make a post or two here and yet almost nothing comes of it.Too nervous to say something here?
So far only two guests posted here and both of them contributed nothing of value.Could that be why others never post because you have nothing to say? Why not tell us if that is it? Why not tell us what is good or bad about this forum,I am curious in what the guests think of this place. Worth a try? It is our attitude toward free thought and free expression that will determine our fate. There must be no limit on the range of temperate discussion, no limits on thought. No subject must be taboo. No censor must preside at our assemblies. –William O. Douglas, U.S. Supreme Court Justice, 1952 |

RE: Lurkers too shy to post here?
It appears that guests simply does not want to post here. Therefore I am considering just shutting this down to save a little space.

RE: Lurkers too shy to post here?
Please don't! - it was my only way in here since registration isn't automatic, and so it'll be for other "chance" visitors too. I much prefer this BB format to blog format. It's easier on the eye IMHO, and threads aren't stuck in a date archive that rarely gets browsed, but pop to the top of the pile when resurrected by a new comment. Also it's good to be able to post in a "flameproof" environment. I hate to be labelled or criticised by someone who hasn't even read what I post, but jumps to an incorrect conclusion. Anything I post is falsifiable by reasoned argument or new data or research. I'm sceptical about everything I read on the 'net. It would us all (on both sides of any argument) a service if everyone was a true sceptic. It's the only way to progress an argument, discussion or point of view beyond the "I'm right and you're wrong" or name-calling stage.

Thank you Mostlyharmless. I do have a blog and used to post a lot of news articles on it.But hardly any comments comes by and no one else wanted to post articles there. The Blog I have is way too bloated for a small set up like mine.It seems fine for Watts Up With That, but not here. It was so much better when in the early days we used phpNUKE 8.0.There several people posted articles in it including me and Derek.I would post around 90 Articles a month and there were good reading going on.But that fell apart after we went to Wordpress. It takes a lot longer to make a blog post, and being busy I did less and less over time.phpNUKE had USER BLOGS in it and was getting used by about 5-6 people,a whole lot more than the blog I have now. Wordpress is an overrated blog. But I do want a FORUM with USER BLOGS in it,to make it possible for the occasional need to make a small blog post.myBB does not have it but UBB.threads will have it in their new version 8.0 that should be made available by late summer. It has been in private beta testing since last December. That way we still have the dominant forum format with the capability of some small blog postings. Quote:Also it's good to be able to post in a "flameproof" environment. People who do that are called trolls and are moderated strongly for a good reason.I am a strong supporter of 'flameproof" discussions. There is NO,No Holds Barred Forum section here for a good reason. THIS forum is for more about discussions than an argument.Because the main purpose here to learn and educate. Many AGW believers know about my forum and even one registered here.Joe Romm who did that I think because he had just banned Richard Courtney at his own website and followed Richard here to see what he does here with me? I read Richards postings at Romms blog, just before was banned and thought he was reasonably civil if making inconvenient comments. I think most alarmists knows that I am for supporting real discussions and have a low tolerance for the usual ad homonyms and name calling that is rampant elsewhere.Being called a denier will cause me to post a warning, and I think they KNOW IT! Thus they stay away from here. We do have a "lukewarmer" (Jason85) who was posting here but quickly stopped when he was being pressed for discussions. He was always civil and that is why I was surprised given the usual snottiness by AGW supporters elsewhere. RE: Lurkers too shy to post here?
Personally I am surprised that AGW believers avoid this easy way to make a post and still be totally anonymous.
Lurkers can post here asking a question or make an observation, but they do not do it and I wonder why. Even Spammers tried it only once or twice in more than 6 months. RE: Lurkers too shy to post here?
I will probably register, but I prefer email distribution lists to websites. Mailing lists are easier. Just subscribe and the posts turn up automatically in my email client, so no risk of missing anything or wondering whether a website has actually changed since my last visit.
