Testing 1,2,3
Here is the testing thread.

It is our attitude toward free thought and free expression that will determine our fate. There must be no limit on the range of temperate discussion, no limits on thought. No subject must be taboo. No censor must preside at our assemblies.

–William O. Douglas, U.S. Supreme Court Justice, 1952

Re: Testing 1,2,3
The CO2 "building blocks" - Real or Junk .. .

For illustration purposes.
[url*=http://www.scottishwebcamslive.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2742][b*] [colo*r=red][size*=15pt]
The CO2 "building blocks" - Real or Junk ..
[/size] [/color] [/b][/url].
Remove the * from the above and it becomes what is shown at the top of this post when posted.

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed
(and hence clamorous to be led to safety)
by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

H. L. Mencken.

The hobgoblins have to be imaginary so that
"they" can offer their solutions, not THE solutions.

Copy and paste the page you want to link to address bar after url= Using hyperlink puts in the wrong code / message.

ie,
url=http://www.scottishwebcamslive.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2742
should be in the first brackets, or as I believe it should be called, command box. ie [   ]
The command boxes always come in a pair, the instruction box [b*], and the end box, ie [/*b] ends bold command.
Removing the * above makes the command work when posted.
ie, same line with * removed appears as (when posted),
The command boxes always come in a pair, the instruction box , and the end box, ie ends bold command.

Mike, we KNOW you look cute.  ;D
It is good to see you here btw.

Can I attach / insert / upload a pdf.
I can not see how, does anyone know how to please.
I'll go and check my profile to see if there is anything there that needs to be checked.

Also, can I attach / insert / upload an excel file.

Re: Testing 1,2,3
Derek -

you can "link" to a pdf like this:

Code:
[url=http://joannenova.com.au/globalwarming/the_skeptics_handbook_2-22_lq.pdf]The Skeptics Handbook[/url]

Which gives:

The Skeptics Handbook.

Does that help?

If you have a file on your HD that you want to share, you can upload it to a website and then provide a link to it.

The Admins here might want to create a "folder" on this site for such items and only allow certain folks to upload files there.

On some boards, attaching the file to an email to an Admin affords them the capability to upload the file to the site and provide the link.  The Admins here might want to consider that.

I know you think you understand what you thought I said,
but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant!

Re: Testing 1,2,3
Just a friendly note:

Usually, a "test forum" such as this, is not viewed by members since it mostly would contain "garbage" testing such as a member testing the color option or how to bold something or even an attempt to figure out how to create a link in a post.

On most boards I've been on, this section isn't monitored so if someone has a question it would be better off asked in another section of the board.

I would suggest another Forum in this "General Category" section titled "General questions regarding the board" or something similar.

Of course, since I'm suggesting it here, in a Forum that is probably not being read, no one will probably see my suggestion.

Oh well.....

I know you think you understand what you thought I said,
but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant!

Many thanks John, you have covered a couple of important points very helpfully.
I'll PM SST regarding uploading pdfs.

I'm surprised that you are surprised -

volunteers don't get paid.

You probably missed that in the contract

English humour is difficult to get the hang of..

I'd ask what Maggie is paid for, but I'm scared she'd answer..
